Parent Support & Coaching

Parenting a teenager or young adult can feel like walking a tightrope — trying to offer support and guidance while also respecting their growing need for independence. Many parents I work with feel unsure about how to help when their child seems withdrawn, reactive, stuck, or unmotivated. Whether it’s ongoing conflict at home, a lack of direction after high school or college, or difficulties with emotional regulation and responsibility, the path toward adulthood can be rocky — for both young people and their parents.

My work with parents focuses on providing coaching and support during this critical stage of development. Together, we look at patterns in family dynamics, communication breakdowns, and the ways expectations and structure may need to shift as your child moves from adolescence into emerging adulthood. I help parents develop practical tools to create healthy boundaries, reduce reactivity, and reestablish meaningful connection. At the same time, I support parents in navigating their own emotional experience — the frustration, fear, or grief that can come with watching a child struggle to launch.

This stage can be incredibly complex, but with the right approach, it can also be a time of transformation. Therapy offers parents a space to better understand their child’s needs while building confidence in how to support them with calm, consistency, and care.
